The symposium started in 1984 as a bilateral activity between the civil engineering faculties of Gdańsk University of Technology (Poland) and University of Zagreb (Croatia) under the original name "Research on Hydraulic Engineering" and was firstly organized in three-year period. Since 1998 when this symposium was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, participants from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Slovakia), the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius from Skopje (Macedonia) and the BOKU-University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna (Austria) have been contributing regularly to this now two-annual symposium. The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava organized the symposium for the first time in 2003 in Podbanské, High Tatras. In the 13th International Symposium WMHE 2013 in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic) joined the group and became the organizer of the 14th International Symposium WMHE 2015 for the first time.
It is our pleasure to invite you to Slovakia for the third time for the 18th International Symposium WMHE 2024, which will be held in the beautiful surroundings of Štrbské Pleso, High Tatras.
